〔自由時報記者彭健禮／頭份報導〕頭份鎮夏威夷扶輪社推動「人道關懷、行善天下」計畫，社友們出錢出力，去年已在私立大成中學開闢楓林步道；頭份國小的茄冬步道昨天啟用，兩條步道不但替校園增添美景，也提供社區民眾共享。夏威夷扶輪社推動「人道關懷、行善天下」計畫回饋社會，從校園出發，去年十月在大成中學校園黃興生紀念圖書館旁鋪設楓林步道，感念黃興生對教育的奉獻，也為校園增添美景。
大成中學表示，校內的楓樹林是學生下課後聊天、紓壓的空間，也是附近民眾休憩、散步的好去處，在前任家長會長、當時擔任夏威夷扶輪社社長胡世藤的號召下，挹注母校經費，將圖書館旁的走道改建成嶄新的楓林步道。夏威夷扶輪社今年又選定頭份國小，以近三十萬元經費協助打造茄冬步道，銜接正門口的兩棟校舍；頭份國小校長謝玉枝說，茄冬步道原本是黃土丘，下雨過後泥濘難行，現任夏威夷扶輪社社長吳元珪曾任頭份國小校長，非常了解問題，所以發起社內勸募改善，昨天揭牌啟用。謝玉枝說，茄冬步道鋪設後不但平坦好走，也達到校園內人、車分道的功能，提供學生更安全的求學環境。
